During a speech before the event, Obama philosophized on the subject of blues music: “No one goes through life without both joy and pain, triumph and sorrow. The blues gets all of that, sometimes with just one lyric or one note.” Obama recently showed that he loves both music and new technology when he released his Spotify playlist to the world, featuring several old and new American Music Awards artists. RedOne stated that the project is still under wraps at this point: “I don’t know if I’m allowed to mention it right now, but … I did a few songs with Far East Movement, and one of the songs to me is a smash, and Justin sang the chorus. … It’s a really good song and I think people are gonna dance like crazy to it.” RedOne then went on to compliment the young artist’s work ethic and talent: “He’s becoming a man with his voice… He’s a real artist.” Justin’s next album, Believe, has a possibility of featuring RedOne if the recorded tracks are chosen for the final release. American Music Award winning artist Adele has reached her 20th non-consecutive week at the number one spot on the Billboard chart with her album 21, tying the record set by Whitney Houston’s soundtrack for The Bodyguard in 1992-1993. Adele took home Grammys in all six categories she was nominated in, and is in a strong position to break the music legend’s chart record. The accomplishment comes with sadness, though, as it coincides with Houston’s passing this past Sunday at the age 48.

Adele is currently in a relationship with 37 year old Simon Konecki, a former investment banker who now runs a charity. In the interview, Adele suggested that she would ultimately like to “be in love and be happy. And then I don’t know what I’ll do. Get married. Have some kids. Plant a nice vegetable patch.”

On Sunday, the 23 year old singer won six Grammys in all of the categories she was nominated in. In the interview, she talks about her sudden rise to fame and an ensuing throat polyp which required vocal surgery. Adele said that the surgery actually gave her time to reflect on aspects of her life she had never had time to consider before: “I’ve never fully appreciated the things that I’ve achieved until now. In fact, my entire life has changed in the last ten weeks. I’ve never been so happy, and I love it.” Watch Adele in tears after winning best album of the year below:
