English singer-songwriter Adele and 2010 Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist Lady Gaga have helped spur a rise in record sales, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Adele led the pack with 2.5 million albums sold of her latest record “21” and Gaga sold 1.5 million copies of “Born This Way.”

Album sales have already risen 3.6 percent in just the first half of 2011.
