Exclusive Interview With Estelle!

We recently sat down with pop-star Estelle, one of the hosts for this year’s Coca-Cola Red Carpet Live @ the American Music Awards on Livestream! Estelle talks with us about her new album, touring around the world, and her next projects. Check out the interview below!

You’ve had numerous high-profile collaborations- Kanye West, Busta Rhymes, just to name a few- Who would your next ideal collaboration be with?

I don’t even know.  I think I’m just focusing on doing all Estelle records now.  I’ve done so many [collaborations] I kind of just need to do me.

Of course

I mean, collaborations are where I shine and I’m thankful and honored to work with all of the people I’ve worked with.  I really am.

In your music, what are some of your biggest influences, and different styles that you’ve taken?

Reggae, gospel, rock and indie.  I grew up listening to a lot of different things, so it all comes back.  When I get on stage and I get sick of performing a song one way, I’ll make it a rock song or I’ll make it a country song, or just change genre.  It’s kind of a testament to a good song to me; if I can change it into anything, then it’s a good song.

Are there any new genres that you’re looking to branch out into?

There’s so many. Being from London, we hear dubstep, we hear a lot of that stuff.  It’s not really new for me, so I don’t know.

Fair enough.  Are you currently on tour?

I’m about to be on tour in November.  We have a new album coming out.  The new single Thank You just dropped, so I’m excited.  The album comes out January, 24th!

Is it a global tour?

Oh yeah, we’re going everywhere.  We start in the U.S. in November, and then we go to Europe in December, and then come back and do a big, big tour starting January.

Nice.

I’m exhausted.  I can’t think!

When you perform around the world, do you see a difference in American audiences as opposed to audiences in the U.K. or elsewhere in Europe?

I have more of a back-story with European audiences because I had an album out before, and everything.  But this last album go-round just felt like all love, you know.  It was so good to see people come out and just have fun, and that’s what my shows are about.  Because I feel like, if you’re paying 40 dollars for a ticket, you need to enjoy something.

Is there anywhere that you haven’t performed yet?

Japan!  Thailand!  I want to do a full Far East tour.  I’ve been to Shanghai, I’ve been to Korea, I’ve been to Australia.  I’ve not been to Japan, so I really want to go do it.  And I really want to go shopping down there!

Any other exciting plans on the horizon?

Acting, voiceovers, it’s just all coming together again.  It takes me a minute with my albums, but as soon as it goes, it goes.  So here we go again!

Sounds like it’s going to be an exciting year!

And be sure and check out the Coca-Cola Red Carpet Live @ the American Music Awards via Livestream on November 20th at 5pmET/2pm PT!
