Preparations for the 2011 American Music Awards are in full swing! Today we sat down with OneRepublic after their rehearsal. The band opened up about their future plans, their pre-show rituals, and why their performance at this year’s AMAs will be significant for them. Check out the interview below!
What part of this year’s AMAs are you most excited for?
Seeing LMFAO perform. It’s been a long time since two men performed in Satin clothing.
Why do you think you should win against the other nominees (LMFAO, Maroon 5) in the Favorite Band, Duo, or Group category?
We are kind of like the underdogs. The country was built on underdogs. A bit like George Washington.
What would you say in your acceptance speech if you win?
Probably the most outlandish thing. I will probably thank Taylor Lautner, or someone who has nothing to do with us.
What are some of your pre-show rituals?
Watch Modern Family then do some Jumping Jacks and Pilaties.
What special projects are in the works for OneRepublic?
We are currently filming a video for an original Christmas song that will be out Next Tuesday. It’s like a throw back to 1965. We are also working on the new album. Basically writing, mostly. This AMAs will be the last time we perform “The Good Life”.
How has the AMA Experience been so far?
Rehearsals went very well. We are performing for the first time on the AMAs. Two years ago we presented.
What words would you use to describe OneRepublic?
Absurd, Driven, Brave, Obedient, and Cheerful
Thank you for your time, and good luck at the show!
