In a just-released interview with American Music Award winner Katy Perry, interviewer Kristen Wiig talks to the pop star about a variety of subjects, from growing up in a Christian evangelical household to future songwriting plans. Perry talks about how she was shielded as a child from pop music influences, and started in music by recording a gospel album.

Wiig then commented: “I grew up listening to a lot of music that actually sort of reminds me of your music, like the Go-Go’s, Madonna, the Bangles, Toni Basil – really happy, fun music,” to which Perry enigmatically responded that her music was about to get real “dark.”
