CNN.com recently revealed several photos of American Music Award winning artist Lady Gaga before she was famous, otherwise known as Stefani Germanotta. The photos, taken by another New Yorker, Malgorzata Saniewska, show 19-year-old Gaga posing demurely in high heels and on top of a piano.

Saniewska, originally from Poland, met Gaga in 2005 and was “really impressed” with her album. She describes Gaga as “down-to-earth” and headed to Gaga’s parents’ house to take the pictures. Five years later, the two ran into each other again and Gaga gave permission to Saniewska to release the photos, citing them as her “first photo shoot.”
