“I can be selfish, yeah so impatient / Sometimes I feel like Marilyn Monroe.”
American Music Award winner Nicki Minaj’s tribute to Marilyn Monroe leaked to the internet on Sunday. It’s not clear whether the track was unused from her previous album “Pink Friday” or if it was newly recorded for her upcoming release of “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.”
In the clip, Minaj takes an introspective turn with the lyrics, “It’s like all the good things / They fall apart” and “I don’t want to end up losing my soul.” Listen to the clip below:
This isn’t the first time Nicki has opened up about her life struggles. In 2010 she premiered her biography with MTV called “My Time Now.” In it, Minaj talked candidly about the debilitating effects of her father’s cocaine addiction on her family, and also confided, “I’ve been led down a lot of dead-end roads,” recalling gigs prior to breaking out as a rap artist, which included being fired as a waitress, customer-service rep, and office manager.
