I’m sure we all remember where we were the day before this year’s Oscars. Think real hard, because it was only three days ago. I was at the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards! And in case you missed it, I’ve compiled a compendium of everything you need to know about it.
First of all, it was cold. Impossibly cold. And that day the arctic breeze combined with bright sunshine, ultimately leaving me with numb hands and burned face. But enough about my misery. Let’s look at some videos! YAAAY!
Host Joel McHale lampoons 127 Hours in this video short. Featuring a special cameo from Dale Dickey!
James Franco is awarded the Male Lead award, and talks about his affinity for independent film.
Natalie Portman takes home Best Female Lead for Black Swan. Does she pirouette onstage? No. No she does not.
Joel McHale looks into the future and predicts the In Memoriam for the following year. Get your tissues ready.
Exit Through the Gift Shop wins for Documentary. Unfortunately, we still don’t know who Banksy is (although I think he’s Jon Hamm. Just a hunch.)
Darren Aronofsky wins for Best Director. He should have also gotten Best Scarf.
And finally, here we see that Paul Rudd, Eva Mendez and Rosario Dawson are very comfortable with one another. NSFW? Potentially.
