I get to talk with Quinton Aaron about The Blindside, fame, football, and more.
Luke: Tell me about some of the preparation you went through for the football scenes in The Blindside.
QA: The main pre-production football training took place at Georgia Tech. I trained for 3 months, twice a day for seven days a week. I lost over 100 pounds.
Luke: So pretty brutal.
QA: [laughs] Yeah.
Luke: Any special diet?
QA: Yeah, 5 meals a day for 8 weeks.
Luke: Wow, and you still lost all that weight?
QA: Yeah, man.
Luke: During the in-game scenes, was it full contact?
QA: Oh yeah. The players in the movie were actual players, not actors. They were football players from local schools.
Luke: I’ve always wondered about that in football movies.
QA: Yeah, this was for real. The hits we took were serious.
Luke: Overall, what was it like working on a film that was so highly lauded?
QA: Man, it was just amazing. It was a rollercoaster ride. And I don’t like rollercoasters, but this was a good one.
