Having recently been promoted from the depths of the mail room, I’ve been charged with the task of blogging for dcp’s new website. As the new blogger, it’s my job to keep you world wide webers up-to-date with the latest in dcp land. I also get to interview the throngs of celebrities and notable figures that move through our office. On my first assignment, I get to sit down with iCarly star, Jennette McCurdy.
Luke: You already have numerous television credits to your name. What is the next type of project you’d like to undertake?
JM: I don’t really have a preference between comedy or drama, just as long as it’s interesting. I like bizarre things, too; projects that are unique. And when it comes to comedy, I tend to do dry humor.
Luke: If you could collaborate musically with any artist, who would it be?
JM: [Without hesitation] the Barenaked Ladies!
At this moment, Jennette leaps up and begins singing “one week” from the Barenaked Ladies’ classic 1998 album Stunt. After a couple of minutes, our interview resumes.
JM: So yeah, Barenaked Ladies.
Luke: Fantastic. If there was such a thing as a correct answer, that would be it. So, besides BNL, who inspires you musically?
JM: Keith Urban, Lady Antebellum, Leann Rimes. A lot of singer/songwriters from the 70’s. I also love 90’s rock. Especially Weezer.
Luke: Early Weezer, or late Weezer?
JM: [thinks for a moment] Well, Pinkerton is their best album. But I believe in being a loyal fan, so I like all their stuff.
Luke: You’re also involved in a lot of charity work. What motivates you in philanthropy?
JM: I’ve been provided a platform to reach out, so that motivates me to give back. I like contributing to causes to help cancer research. It’s something that affects everyone.
Check back soon for more updates from The DCP Beat, with Luke!
