Usher To Use Virtual Dancers

The New York Times announced that fans of American Music Awards winner, Usher, will have the opportunity to dance with him at his upcoming concert at the Hammersmith Apollo in London on June 11. The show will be streamed online via Usher’s VEVO channel and viewers will be able to create digital dancers to join the singer on stage during his performance of “Scream.”

“Literally, people will be able to create their own avatar and have it dance on the screen with Usher,” said Hamish Hamilton, director of the concert webcast. Mr. Hamilton said the dancing avatars were being created for Usher’s concert by Moment Factory, a Montreal multimedia company he previously worked with on Madonna’s Super Bowl half-time show.

The concert is part of the American Express Unstaged series, which pairs top pop stars with well-known directors. Recent pairings include Coldplay and Anton Corbijn, Mary J. Blige and Adam Shankman, and Jack White with Gary Oldman.

The Usher concert will be streamed live on June 11 at 4 p.m. Eastern time at youtube.com/UsherVEVO.
