Willow Smith debut a new song during the BET Awards pre-show this past Sunday. “I Am Me,” the title of her inspirational ballad, shows that she is not just another pretty face with great vocal capabilities. At 11 years old, Smith proves she is mature beyond her tween years.

The video captures Smith in various New York City scenes performing the song on a portable piano, getting around the city on a skateboard and being silly.

The message of the song? Well, despite being the daughter of superstar couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith and being in the public eye, she is telling everyone that she is simply just being herself and that’s all she can be.
