We had the pleasure of sitting down with DJ’s Redfoo and Skyblu of LMFAO after their rehearsal for the 2011 AMAs. It was definitely an animated conversation. The guys tell us about their party rock lifestyle, and why the contents of their speedos are 100% natural. Check out the interview below!
If you guys weren’t famous party rockers, where would you be?
Redfoo: We’d probably be famous basketball players. You know what I’m saying? We’d probably be shooting a skateboarding movie. Shooting skits on YouTube.
Skyblu: Yeah, FunnyOrDie.
Redfoo: Yeah.
Skyblu: We probably would have came up with FunnyOrDie.
Why are you the greatest party rockers ever?
Redfoo: Because it’s an obsession to rock a party. And the reason why we’re the greatest ever is because we’ve been partying since birth. In school, we were the class clowns. And we did the after-parties and stuff, and then at Thanksgiving the parents would do the grown-up stuff with karaoke, and then we would go in with our own instrumentals and start free styling, and the parents were like ‘yeah baby go go’ and we was rocking, and then we’d jump on the drums because they had like a jazz band there. So we’ve just been practicing partying for our whole lives
Skyblu: I would liken it to a genie’s lamp. If you rub it, any wish comes true. Magic!
During the shooting of the video for ‘Sexy and I Know It’ did you put anything extra in your speedo, or was it all natural?
Redfoo: The dudes wish [it was stuffed]. It is a magical package that has a responsiveness like a slinky. It’s a coil, it coils back. It’s like a bow and arrow.
Why did you guys choose the name LMFAO?
Skyblu: It chose us. [Our grandmother] Grandma Goodfoot put it in the cosmos, and it just went zoop!
Redfoo: The first name we were exploring was Sexy Dudes. Our friends didn’t like it.
