Facebook Makes Big Announcement

Microsoft announced today a new partnership between Facebook and Skype. This allows facebook users to connect to Skype from their profiles, and video chat with other users on different platforms. Also, the video chat feature doesn’t require users to have an existing Skype account, and is easily accessible from facebook.com.

Facebook has been teasing a big announcement for the past few days, and the unveiling today will surely have a sizeable impact in the social networking community.

Facebook does face competition from the new Google+ social network, which is steadily growing and actually featured video chat before Facebook.

This provides further proof that the world is becoming increasingly more connected through social media, and that we are really close to the level of technology featured in Back to the Future 2.
