Music History Today: “Silly Love Songs”

In our music history series, we recognize major events and artists who have contributed to what popular music is today.

For May 22nd, we celebrate one of the most influential songwriters in the world; Sir Paul McCartney.

The American Music Award winner and his band Wings had a five week run at No.1 on the U.S. Singles Chart for their hit song Silly Love Songs in 1976.  Since then, the single has been covered by various artists such as Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor in Elephant Love Medley for the film “Moulin Rouge”.   The “Glee” cast also performed this song in their second season of the show in the Valentine’s Day episode.
